Erma Valentine (McCord) Ramsay, 95, who has resided in Anderson with her son and daughter-in-law for the past year and a half with Alzheimers, passed away February 3, 2015 at St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital.
She was born on February 14, 1919 in Clinton, IN. and graduated from Crawfordsville High School in 1937 and then Indiana Business College.
Erma worked 15 years at WHBU where her award winning radio program “My Ladies Memo” was a popular daily feature. In 1983, she retired from PayLess Super Markets where she was the Advertising Manager for 25 years.
She was a member of the Russellville Community Church and a former member of the First United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Guitanna “Toni” (Manuel) Cantrell of Anderson; her son, Brian (Dawn) McCord of Anderson; step children, Cynthia Ramsay Burkett, Mark (Susie) Ramsay, Charlotte Ramsay West, Kenneth “Chip” Ramsay and Christina Ramsay Hunter; grandchildren, Dennis (Marjie) Cantrell, Terry (Jennifer) Cantrell, Lindsey (Matt) Lines, Dani Fetz, Jordan McCord and Jordan (Denise) Hines; great grandchildren, Angie Wanner, Lyndan Grace Hines and Corey Cantrell; great great grandson, Brandon Wanner.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lon and Okie Rambo; her husbands, John McCord, Richard Allen and Kenneth Ramsay; sister, Norma Potter Scott; brother, Donald Wayne Potter.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Daybreak for all the special care given to Erma.
Services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory with Rev. James Elliott officiating. Entombment will be in Maplewood Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.
