Eric Seward Sharpnack

August 23, 1949 — January 10, 2016

Eric Seward "Ric" Sharpnack, 66, Markleville, passed away Sunday, January 10, 2016, at Saint Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital following a hard-fought battle with cancer.

He was born on August 23, 1949, in Indianapolis, Indiana to Harry and Jeanne (Seward) Sharpnack.

He graduated from Lawrence Central High School in 1967 and attended IUPUI until he was drafted to serve in the U. S. Air Force during the Vietnam War.

Eric retired in 1999 from the former Guide Lamp division of General Motors in Anderson. Following retirement he worked at Navistar in Indianapolis, Chrysler in New Castle, and National Starch in Indianapolis.

He was a member of Northview Church Fishers Campus and was an avid coin, currency, and classic car collector. Eric loved being outdoors and walking with his cat Sadie.

He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Roxann (Hudson) Sharpnack; four children, Erika (husband, Ahmed) Elganzouri of Chicago, IL, Kristin (husband, Brandon) Buck of Pendleton, Sara (husband, Andy) Horning of Lapel, and William (wife, Hillary) Sharpnack of Orange Co., CA; two step-sons, Matthew Vaught of North Vernon and Aaron (wife, Joy) Vaught of Fishers; seven grandchildren, Ziden, Grant, Zane, Caleb, Blake, Ronan, and Skylor; one sister, Dianne Stephenson of Cincinnati, OH; and a brother-in-law, Gary Havens of Carmel; two nephews, John (wife, Kelly) Stephenson and Todd (wife, Lynne) Stephenson; and life-long friends, Bill, Joe, and John.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Jacob Horning; and a sister, Lynda Havens.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, January 14, 2016, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Pastor John Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Grovelawn Cemetery, Pendleton.

Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm Thursday, January 14, 2016, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel.

Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society.
