Eric Reske, 85, passed away Monday, December 10, 2018, at his residence after an extended illness. He was born July 28, 1933, in Dowagiac, Michigan to Fred & Marie Kleimchen Hauch Reske. Eric grew up on a farm and vineyard in Sawyer, Michigan and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. After his service, he graduated from Tri-State College in 1962 with a BS in Civil Engineering and moved his family to Pendleton in 1964. He began working for the Indianapolis civil engineering firm of Beam Longest & Neff, LLC in 1970 and after many decades he retired as partner and CEO. Eric was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church and was known for his generosity and community involvement, including serving on the Pendleton Park Board and Library Board for many years. He was an avid outdoorsman, golfer and sports fan.Eric is survived by his wife of 62 years, Helen (Robertson) Reske; sons, Scott E. (Jennifer) Reske, Clifford E. (Norma) Reske, and Brian C. (Karina) Reske; 13 grandchildren; one great grandchild and one on the way; several nieces, nephews, and a multitude of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and several siblings, including John Hauch, Ernie Hauch, Herman Hauch, Martha Hauch, Albert Hauch and Clara Hauch Gast. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, December 15, at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory, Lahm Chapel, Pendleton. Burial will be at Grove Lawn Cemetery, Pendleton. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, and one hour prior to the services on Saturday. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the South Madison Community Foundation for the Log Cabin Project or to the Smile Train.
