Long-time Anderson resident Elizabeth (Baciu) Gale, 94, Noblesville, passed away Wednesday, September 24, 2014, at Community Hospital of Anderson following a brief illness. She was born on November 20, 1919, in Anderson, Indiana to Alexe and Lena (Cernea) Baciu. Elizabeth graduated from Anderson High School in 1937. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Anderson since 1932 (82 years) and loved to teach Sunday school; the Willing Workers Home Economics Club for 50 years; and the Sears Retirees. Elizabeth loved to send cards to all her family and friends for every holiday and occasion and also loved to receive cards. She was a faithful grandmother who gave encouragement to her grandchildren and wrote to each one weekly after they went away to college, and a dollar bill was enclosed in every letter. Her love and devotion for her family is a memory that her family will always cherish. Elizabeth's strong faith in God was what made her the caring compassionate person she was. Because God came first in her life, she was not only an example to her family and friends but a blessing. She is survived by three children, Bill (wife, Linda) Gale of Anderson, Diane (husband, Steve) Alfrey of Anderson, and Jim (wife, Lynn) Gale of Noblesville; four grandchildren, Mark (wife, Jennifer) Gale of Denton, TX, Megan (husband, Todd) McCutcheon of Columbus, OH, Joshua (wife, Heather) Alfrey of Clermont, FL, and Jeremy (wife, Kristine) Gale of Greenwood; four great-granddaughters, Sydney Borutta, Elizabeth and Emily Alfrey, and Edrena McCutcheon; one sister, Leona Cade of Shelbyville; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 70 years, Charles William "Bill" Gale; a brother, Emil Baciu; two sisters, Louise Precup and Anna Burk; and two nephews, Raymond and David Precup. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, October 1, 2014, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Pastor Ella Louise Peyton and Dr. Art Jaggard officiating. Entombment will follow in East Maplewood Cemetery, Anderson. Visitation will be from 11:30 am to 2:00 pm Wednesday, October 1, 2014, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel.
