Elizabeth Ann Martin

Elizabeth Ann "Betty" Martin, 91, Anderson, passed away Tuesday, August 14, 2018, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis following a brief illness.
She was born on March 15, 1927, in Noblesville to Jesse F. and Grace (Gage) McCarty.
Betty retired in 1988 from the Fort Benjamin Harrison Army Finance Center in Indianapolis after 21 years of employment.
She was a member of Ford Street United Methodist church and was active in the Helen Everly Circle and her Sunday school class activities. She taught childrens Sunday school classes and Bible School. She was a Cub Scout den mother and worked with the little league. She was a member of the Lapel War Mothers and the Lapel American Legion Auxiliary.
Betty is survived by two sons, Phillip Carson of Pendleton and James A. Martin of Markleville; two nieces, Sue Wright of Anderson, and Sharon Estle of Noblesville; six grandchildren, Ashley Martin, Alicia Riddle, Alisa Martin, and Amanda Paddock; James A. Martin, II, and Chad Riseden; thirteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; and several close friends and caregivers including Carol Walden, Rita Owen, and Lynn Dixon.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Jack M. Martin; and step-son Dayne M. Martin; a sister, Vera Williams; and three brothers, Frank, Jack, and Danny McCarty.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, August 18, 2018, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, Lapel with Rev. Maynard Powell officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM Saturday at the funeral home.
