Elinor Britta Coyle

Elinor Britta Pearson Coyle, 104, Anderson, passed away Wednesday, June 17, 2015, at her home. She was born in Helsingborg, Sweden October 6, 1910, the daughter of Edwin Pearson and Freda (Ohleson) Pearson. Her father immigrated to DuBois, Pennsylvania with his siblings and worked to save money for his wife and three children to come to America. They came on Oscar II into Ellis Island in 1914. She married Robert Coyle August 21, 1938. They lived in Brockway, Pennsylvania until 1952 when Brockway Glass was started in Lapel. Elinor is survived by her son Edwin and his wife Barb Coyle; and his children Kathleen Coyle Dabkowski, Kelly Coyle Shikany and Kristine Coyle Hammond; her daughter Nancy and her husband George Likens; and their children Julie Likens Hettinga and G. Robert Likens; and her son Richard and his wife Lori Coyle; and his daughter Melissa Coyle Hammitt. She also loved her 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister and a brother. Her husband Robert died in 1996. Elinor was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Lapel and had been active in her church. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and friend. She was very proud of her Swedish heritage. She had been quoted in the paper recently that she contributed her longevity to "sweets and coffee"! The family would like to extend a special thanks to Keystone Woods for being caring, loving and supportive of their mother since 2003. It was her home and they treated and loved her like a family member. Special thanks also to Bobbie Parks for the faithful and loving way she gave the extra care our mother needed for several years. She was a friend to our Mother and to each of us. A funeral service will be held at 11:30 am Friday, June 19, 2015, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, Lapel, with Pastor Doug Barton officiating. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery, Lapel. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm Thursday, June 18, 2015, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Gene Sylvester Memorial Maintenance Fund, C/O Trinity United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 606, Lapel, IN 46051-0606
