Elgin Royce Hinson, 76, of Pendleton, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 16, 2020, at Rawlins House, Pendleton, Indiana. He was January 26, 1944, in Monterey, Tennessee, to Arie E. and Edna B. McCowan Hinson.Elgin served in the United States Navy from 1964 to 1968. He worked at Pendleton Correctional Facility (Indiana Reformatory) for 31 years, retiring in 2001. Elgin worked for Honeywell Corporation overseas in the Middle East for his son-in-law, James Braun. Later he worked at Advance Auto, Anderson, Indiana.He was a member of New Life Church of the Nazarene in Anderson.Elgin is survived by his daughter, Robin (James) Braun, of Polk, Pennsylvania, and four grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Archie of Michigan, Deloy (Skip) of Tennessee, and Roy of Indiana.Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m, Monday, September 21, 2020 at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory, Lahm Chapel, 211 E. State St., Pendleton with the Rev. Alvin Dayton presiding, assisted by Rev. Jack Duckworth. The Indiana Department of Correction will be represented by the Pendleton Correctional Facility Honor Guard. Burial will follow in Pleasant Walk Cemetery, Anderson and will include military honors.Visitation will be one hour before services at Lahm Chapel.Memorial contributions may be made to New Life Church of the Nazarene, 3615 Raible Ave., Anderson, Indiana 46011.Due to State mandates, face masks are required and social distancing practices observed.
