Elaine S. Svyantek

Elaine S. Svyantek, 80, passed away on Sunday, November 23, 2014 at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis after a brief illness.

She was born January 6, 1934, in Anderson and on May 15, 1953, she married William S. Svyantek.

Elaine was a teacher/counselor for the Mississinewa School Corporation for 20 years, retiring in 1994. She was a member of the Indiana State Teacher’s Association, the National Education Association and Delta-Kappa-Gamma – The International Honorary Association for Women. She also served as President of Beta-Iota Chapter of the Marion I.U. Alumni Association and was Nomination Chair for the State Chapter of Tri-Kappa.

In addition to William, she is survived by her children, Daniel (Frances) Svyantek of Auburn, Alabama, William Paul Svyantek of Marion, Theresa (Warren) LeCompte of Front Royal, Virginia and Kristin (Neil) Garvey of Lawrence; grandchildren, Martina (Trevor Browne) Svyantek, Andrej Svyantek, John Michael Garvey, Cora Joan Garvey and Meghan A. LeCompte; and sister, Millicent Baker of Greenwood.

She was preceded in death by her son Stephen Darrell Svyantek, her father Darrell Schock and her mother Lucile I. Miller.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Wednesday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory. Burial will follow at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be held 4:00-8:00pm Tuesday at the funeral home.
