Edward Earl Sipes, 79, Daleville, passed away Sunday, December 27, 2015, at Community Hospital of Anderson following a brief illness.
He was born on January 21, 1936, in Plainfield, Indiana to Raymond and Katheryn (Strantz) Sipes.
He attended Arsenal Technical High School in Indianapolis.
Ed retired as a meat merchandiser at Marsh. He also owned and operated Sipes Supermarket in Muncie for several years. During his work history, he also worked for Kroger, Payless and Matthews Supermarket.
He was a member of the Anderson Elks and Redmens Lodge. He enjoyed spending time with his family and watching high school basketball.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years Mary Earlene (Mullen) Sipes; five children, Deb (husband, Phillip) Horn of Cicero, Ed (wife, Mary) Sipes of Anderson, Kathy (husband, Jeff) Finkbiner of Muncie, Ray Sipes of Anderson, and Dean Sipes of Daleville; ten grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; three brothers, Bob (wife, Bev) Sipes of Indianapolis, Bernie Sipes of Bolling Brook, IL, and Jack (wife, Joyce) Sipes of Indianapolis; and a sister, Betty (husband, James) Stewart of Spring Hill, FL.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A celebration of life service will take place at a later date and burial will follow in Pendleton.
