Edward B. Hughel, 96, of Anderson, passed away June 16, 2017 at the Lodge at Harbour Manor, Noblesville. He was born March 31, 1921 in Anderson, the son of Silas and Maude (Morrison) Hughel. He was a member of the Anderson High School Class of 1939. Edward married Vivian Schickel on January 28, 1943 and she preceded him in death in 2011. He served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II as a B-17 pilot. He was a P.O.W. in the European theater for 19 months. He is survived by his sons, E. Craig (Toni) Hughel of Noblesville and Thomas K. (Paula) Hughel of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Michael, Mark, Thomas (“Ted”), Andrew and Zachary Hughel and Martina Hughel-Slone; great-grandchildren, Elliott, Phoebe, Alison and Griffin Hughel; brother, John R. (Margaret Ann) Hughel of Indianapolis; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to Vivian, he was preceded in death by his parents, sister and two brothers. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory with Dr. Art Jaggard officiating. Entombment will follow at East Maplewood Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
