Eddie Lee "Fig" Newton, 56, Lapel, passed away Thursday, June 14, 2018, at Ambassador Healthcare in Centerville following an extended illness.He was born on January 26, 1962, in Noblesville to Herbert P. and Alta Mae (Higgins) Newton.Eddie was graduated from Lapel High School in 1980.He was a member of the Day Break Wesleyan Church in Lapel. He enjoyed playing chess, fishing, camping, and helping others.Eddie is survived by two sisters, Cathy Burns and Paula Stevens; two brothers, Wayne Burns and Jeff Burns; an aunt Sharon Newton; and an uncle Lee Newton.Eddie was preceded in death by his parents.Visitation will be from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM Sunday, June 24, 2018, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel.Burial will be in Brookside Cemetery, Lapel at a later date.Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
