Dwight E. Wood

ANDERSON- Dwight E. “Woody” Wood Sr., 86, of Anderson, passed away Dec. 1, 2014 at St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital following a short illness.

He was born April 30, 1928, in Anderson, the son of the late Dwight L. and Fredonia (Clem) Wood.

Dwight attended Anderson High School and was employed by the Anderson Fire Department. He later retired, in 1976, from the Anderson Fire Department as the Chief Instructor.
He was a good man who loved and was loved. He was a great husband, father, and grandfather. His 1930 Ford coupe was his special hobby.

He leaves to cherish his loving memory his wife of 66 years, Virginia Wood; children, Sherry (Donald) Watson of Anderson, Dwight (Leslee) Wood Jr., of Michigan City, Kathy (Leslie) King, Ronald (Dianne) Wood Sr., Betty Jane (Robert) McNeal all of Anderson; grandchildren, David King, Cammie Cook, Jason Cain, Jay T. Watson, Karri Boyd, Dwight Wood III, Scott Wood, Larry Savage Jr., Phillip Savage, Adam Savage, Carol Wood-Lon�, Joshua Hamel, Robert McNeal II, Candice McNeal; 25 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; and a sister, Louise Stewart of Florida.

Dwight was preceded in death by his grandson, Ronald Wood Jr.; great grandson, Keith Stoffers; sisters, Betty Jane Wood, Deloris Badgley, Alice Barrett; stepmother, Mable Wood; father and mother in law, Arthur and Gladys Antrobus; and a son in law, Lesie King.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday, at the Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory, 515 East 53rd St, Anderson, with Rev. Danny St. Clair officiating. Entombment will follow at East Maplewood Cemetery.

Visitation will be 4-8 on Thursday at the funeral home.
