Dwaine Frederick Lawyer, 94, of Pendleton, passed away on November 24, 2018 at his residence. He was born on March 25, 1924 in Plainville, Indiana to the late Levi and Agnes (Cornelius) Lawyer.Dwaine served his country in the Army during World War II as a paratrooper. He was a self- employed farmer and worked for Alltrack Inc.. He was known by many as a skilled mechanic and welder. He was a charter member of the Pendleton American Legion. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and fishing trips to Canada.Dwaine is survived by his wife, Peggy (Huntsman) Lawyer, Pendleton; children, Jim (Becky) Lawyer of Pendleton, Jean Proctor of Anderson, Jon (Tracy) Lawyer of Pendleton, Paula (Jim) Kidder of Pendleton, Darren (Megan) Lawyer of Pendleton; brother, Don(Ruthann) Lawyer of Shirley, sister, Barbara Schaller of Pendleton; 17 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 1 great- great grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his siblings, Bob Lawyer, Dick Lawyer, Bud Lawyer, Sonny Lawyer, Louise Smith, Evelyn Nelson and Kathleen Huffman.Services will be on Thursday at 10:00 am at Wilson St. Pierre Lahm Chapel, 211 E. State St., Pendleton with Pastor Gary Meeker officiating. Burial will be at Anderson Memorial Park with full military rites.Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.Memorial contributions may be made to the South Madison Community Foundation (southmadisonfoundation.org) or Fisher House Foundation (fisherhouse.org).
