Douglas W. Hart

Douglas W. Hart, 67, of Alexandria, passed away Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at his home after a brief illness. He was born in Anderson on May 30, 1949 the son of the late Harold and Delores (Crull) Hart and lived in the area his entire life. He graduated from Highland High School, Class of 1968. On December 12, 1968 he married Pam Boyd and together they raised their family. He was a member of the Gideons and the National Arbor Society. He was a hard worker as evidenced by his 46 years as owner/operator of Doug’s Tree, Shrub & Stump Service. He was a collector of various items. He especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends and attending his grandkids’ sporting events. He had a special place in his heart for the Tupelo Children’s Mansion, supporting and sponsoring numerous children there over the years. Douglas is survived by his wife, Pam Hart; daughter, Melissa Bastin, of Upland; grandchildren, Victoria Hart, Tyler Bennett and Peyton Bennett; brothers, Mike (Susan) Hart and Ron (Pam) Hart, all of Pendleton; sister-in-law, Bobette Hart, of New Castle; brother-in-law, Steve Wilson, of Shelbyville; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Harry & Catherine Boyd, of Anderson; special friends, Carol & Charlie Mitchell; and best furry friend, Josie. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jason Hart; brother, Gary Hart; sister, Beverly Wilson; in-laws, Jim & Juanita Boyd; and brother-in-law, Larry Boyd. Services will be at 11:00 A.M. Friday, at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory with Pastor Randy Murphy officiating. Visitation will be 3:00 – 8:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home.
