Douglas Keith Melton

December 11, 1950 — March 5, 2025

Anderson

Douglas went to be with his precious beautiful Lord and Saviour King Jesus whom he loved dearly and served deeply on March 5, 2025.

Douglas was born in Anderson, IN to his parents Granville Francis Melton and Mildred Dean (Dent) Melton. He was the absolute pride and joy of their lives, and he cherished his parents as well. He graduated from Madison Heights High School in Anderson, IN and went on to attend some college courses at Ball State University in Muncie, IN.

At a very young age, he discovered his amazing God Given talent of guitar playing which he continued to do throughout his life. He played several instruments, wrote several songs, & was a beautiful singer. However, musically, he was most known for his miraculous electric guitar skills. He was in several bands throughout his life, including the nationally known group named “Wrinkled Rhapsody” that released an album. Another notable group that he was apart of was a contemporary Christian band called “Kingdom.” He played at numerous churches & venues including one performance at the Grand Ole Opry.

Early in his life, Douglas was saved and committed his life to Jesus Christ. He became a devoted pastor & evangelist preaching the beautiful word of God to many while also sharing his musical talents for the Lord. Douglas thoroughly enjoyed praying in the spirit, learning the word of God, and sharing the knowledge he knew with everyone he could.

In 1974, he met his beautiful, precious wife Karen (Brantlinger) Melton & they were married that same year. At the time of Douglas’ promotion to Heaven, they had been married for 50 blessed & precious years. Douglas cherished Karen more than any other person on this planet, and he truly thanked God for the wife He provided Douglas with. His favorite thing to do was to be alongside Karen, always, as it was also a treasured time for her. He was a very loving & devoted husband who was blessed with the same in return from Karen.

After marriage, Douglas & Karen went on to have two children – A son, Daniel Melton, & a daughter, Angela Melton – who have always adored and cherished their parents immensely & always will. Douglas was the best & most loving “Papa Bear” ever. His children were always very grateful to God for the parents they received & the fact that they were taught from Day 1 to always love & serve Jesus.

Later in life, Douglas was also blessed with a beautiful Daughter-In-Love - Sherri (Caudill) Melton – who he loved greatly. Douglas was also blessed by 3 grandchildren & 4 great-grandchildren that he loved, adored, and was extremely proud of as well as they all loved their Papaw Doug. His grandchildren are – Caleb Melton, Ashtyn Melton, & Colton Keesling – his great grandchildren are – Jason Gary III, Annalysse Melton, Benjamin Melton, and Atticus Keesling.

Douglas worked in different occupations throughout his life, but the majority of his working years was spent in electronic sales. Some of the businesses he was employed by for long period of times were – Radioshack & H.H. Gregg. Douglas always gave 110% at his jobs and had a superb work ethic.

Douglas was always a kind & loving individual with a vibrant soul – everyone who met him always felt as though it made their lives better. People tended to admire his great intellect & God given talents. The things that Douglas enjoyed doing the most was spending time with the Lord, praying, worshipping, studying, preaching the word of God, playing his guitar, and enjoying time with his closest family & friends.

The way Douglas would want everyone to honor his memory is to get saved, to love, and to serve our King & Saviour Jesus Christ. Douglas will be greatly missed by his family & friends, but only for a short time because we know that we will see him again real soon.

Douglas is survived by his wife, Karen (Brantlinger) Melton, his son Daniel Melton (spouse), Sherri (Caudill) Melton), his daughter Angela Melton, granddaughter Ashtyn Melton (fiancé, Jason Gary II), grandson Caleb Melton, granddaughter-in-law Cailin (Armstrong) Melton, grandson Colton Keesling, great-grandson Jason Gary III, great-granddaughter Annalysse Melton, great-grandson Benjamin Melton, and his grandkitty Pumpkin.
