Doratha Hovermale

Doratha Hovermale, beloved mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, passed away peacefully on October 24, 2014. She was 90 years old.
The Anderson native was born April 27, 1924, a surprise to Lucy and Chester Miller, who had no idea they were expecting twins. She lived her entire life in her hometown, surrounded by family and friends.
Doratha married Forrest Hovermale, her loving husband of 55 years, on February 27, 1943 and together they raised four wonderful children. She maintained a long career at Delco Remy and was a loyal member of St. Matthew United Methodist Church. Doratha was known for her devoted and giving spirit, knack for playing Shanghai rum and for always having a homemade pie in the freezer, ready for when company arrived.
Doratha is preceded in death by her husband and parents, brothers Paul Miller, Donald Miller (her twin), and Carl Miller; sisters Betty McElhoe and Vera Blake Boyd; daughter-in-law Dixie Contos-Hovermale, granddaughter Courtney Miles and two great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her four children, Marion Hovermale of Fishers, Larry Hovermale(Brenda) of Anderson, Donald Hovermale of St. Louis, Mo. and Connie Miles (Lawrence) of Laredo, Texas; grandchildren John Armington, Chad Hovermale, Molly Hovermale, Christy Mudd, Brian Hovermale, Casey Hovermale, Matthew Hovermale, Tyler Hovermale, Kyle Hovermale, Kathryn Kohles, Nicholas Hovermale, Allison Miles, Mallory Miles and Sydney Miles; 19 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

Service will be at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 28, 2014, at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory with Jean Whitsell-Sherman officiating. Burial will be in East Maplewood Cemetery.
Friends may call from 12:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday at the funeral Home.
