Donna M. Martin
ANDERSON – Donna Mae Martin 94, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on May 14, 2023.
Donna had moved to Anderson, in August of 2008, after spending over half her life in the Quad Cities, Iowa. Donna was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on May 16, 1928. She was the daughter of Alvin and Wilhelmina (Kretschmar) Hiland. Donna graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1946 and attended the University of Iowa.
She married Donald (Don) Martin on May 30, 1951, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Don and Donna spent 8 years in Germany as Don worked for Deere and Company. Donna was an accomplished hostess serving dinners for 10-20 of Don’s co workers from around the world. Donna enjoyed traveling and she and Don spent their winters in Freeport, Bahamas after Don’s retirement.
Donna was active in her church life at Our Savior Lutheran, in Bettendorf, IA, working on the altar guild and discipleship boards over the years. In more recent years she was a member at Christ Lutheran Church in Anderson, IN. Donna was a full-time mother, who raised 4 children and she liked being around them, her grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Donna is preceded in death by her husband, Donald Martin July 2009, her son, Gregory Martin, April 2010, her sister, Noreen Kime, brother, Ron Dostal, parents, and stepfather Joe Dostal.
Survivors include her daughter, Rebekah (Dr. Larry) Rosenberg of Anderson; her daughter-in-law, Patricia Martin of Chardon, OH; her sons, Grant (Carol) Martin of West Chester, OH; David (Rebecca) Martin of Ann Arbor, MI; one granddaughter, Julie (Chris) Spires of Avon; and four grandsons, Andrew (Lisa) Rosenberg of Fishers, Alexander (Alee) Martin, Dayton, OH, Charles (Jennie) Martin, Chicago, IL and William (Kayla) Martin, Kent, OH; 10 great grandchildren – Noel, Preston, Ezekiel, Rachelle, and Gabrielle Spires of Avon; Rosalia and Rogers Rosenberg of Fishers; Abbi and Mac Martin of Dayton, OH and Luke Martin of Chicago, IL; her sisters-in-law, Jan Dostal, Sonia Curtis, Joyce Martin and nephews and nieces.
Services will be at 10:00 am on Friday, May 19, 2023, at Christ Lutheran Church with the Rev. John A. Jameson officiating. The burial will be in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:00 am to 10:00 am at the church.
Arrangements are being handled by Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Home.
