Donna Lee Scott

Donna Lee Scott, 81, Lapel, passed away Thursday, December 2, 2010, at her home following an extended illness.
She was born on November 5, 1929, in Anderson, Indiana to Russell and Ella (Kelley) Carpenter.
She graduated from Anderson High School in 1948 and received a received a Bachelor's Degree from Anderson College in 1952 and a Master's Degree from Butler University in 1971.
Donna retired in 1990 from Mount Vernon School Corporation and had been an elementary music teacher for 26 years in Markleville, Laurel, Lebanon, Dover, Milan, Lawrenceburg.
She was baptised at First Baptist Church in Anderson as a youth and was a member of Ford Street United Methodist Church where she was church pianist for many years; she served as a Sunday School teacher and was known as Grandma Donna by the Ford Street Pre-school where she led the children in music; she was also a member of the Lapel Rural Garden Club.
Donna was an accomplished pianist and was involved in several church and community music groups beginning in high school and before. Some of the groups were: Lintons Triad ladies musical group; Lintones mixed vocal group; Central Stars elementary swing choir; Musical Mustangs elementary swing choir. She led musical groups at each of the schools where she taught and had been active in leading choirs at her husbands churches.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Rev. Harold Scott; three sons, Greg (wife, Gay) Scott and Brad Scott of Lapel, and Kurt (wife, Patty) Scott of Greencastle; three grandchildren, Holly (husband, Matt) Kraick of Cincinnati, OH, Amy Scott of Fernandina Beach, FL, and Trent Scott of Greencastle; and two great-grandchildren, A. J. and Lincoln Kraick.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am Monday, December 6, 2010, at Ford Street United Methodist Church in Lapel with Pastors Steve Holdzkom and Tom True officiating. Burial will follow in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery, Anderson.
Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm Sunday, December 5, 2010, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel.
