Donna Davis

Donna (Stinefield) Davis, 82, of Anderson passed away on Sunday December 29, 2019 at Countryside Manor following an extended illness. Donna was born on April 18, 1937 in Alexandria. She was the only daughter, out of seven children, by her parents, both of whom have preceded her in death. She had a lifelong commitment to the Democratic Party, and served on the City Council for 36 years. She was involved in the women’s movement and first was elected as a Precinct Committeewoman in 1978. She was then elected to the Anderson City Concil in 1984. She loved helping people, and she also loved her job at the Anderson Township Trustee until her retirement in the spring of 2019. Her Trustee’s position and serving on the City Council were very rewarding to her. She loved the people of Anderson, especially her voters in District Two. Donna graduated from Alexandria High School in 1955. She married Joseph Davis on June 26, 1955 at the Alexandria First Baptist Church. Following their wedding they moved to Anderson. They were in business together for 40 years as Joe Davis’ Auto Tops and Seat Covers until Joe’s retirement in 2010. She was a breast cancer survivor, avid sports fan, and loved to travel. She loved the Colts, Pacers, Purdue, the Reds, Alexandria Tigers, and most of all, the Madison Heights Pirates. Her favorite travel spots were anywhere she could watch the sun come up on the Atlantic Ocean and the sun set on the Pacific Ocean. Donna is survived by her daughter, Stephanie McGee of Carmel; son Mark Davis of Anderson; granddaughters, Electra Young of Anderson and Savanna McGee of Carmel; grandson, Kyle Davis of Muncie; three great-grandchildren; great-grandson, Xavier White of Anderson; brother Robert (Patty) Stinefield of Alexandria; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Davis; parents Otto and Frances (Redding) Stinefield; brothers, William Stinefield, David Stinefield, Dale Stinefield, James “Pete” Stinefield and Phillip Stinefield. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service with Robert Stinefield officiating. Burial will follow at East Maplewood Cemetery. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
