Donald W. Helterbrand

Donald W. Helterbrand, 82, Lapel, passed away Sunday, May 29, 2011, at Riverwalk Village in Noblesville following a brief illness.
He was born on March 16, 1929, in Fishersburg, Indiana to Sherman and Ruth (Crist) Helterbrand.
He graduated in 1947 from Lapel High School and served in the U. S. Army.
Don retired in 1987 from the former Delco Remy division of General Motors in Anderson after 22 years of employment and had formerly been employed by Brockway Glass in Lapel.
He is survived by his daughter, Teresa Ellis of Noblesville; three grandchildren, Niki Cook of Fortville, Pete Helterbrand of Richmond, MO, and Brad Robinson stationed in California with the U. S. Marine Corps; two great-grandchildren, Kailah and Jaedon Cook; one brother, Richard (wife, Donna) Helterbrand of Lapel; and two sisters, Patsy (husband, Paul) Fort of Lapel and Nila Bilbrey of Lapel.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 57 years, Joyce (McAvoy) Helterbrand; one daughter, Debbie Totten; a son, Ed Helterbrand; and a sister, Lena Smiley.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, June 4, 2011, at Brookside Cemetery in Lapel with Pastor Dawn Cuthbert officiating and burial will follow.
There will be no visitation.
