Donald "Sonny" Gwinn, 78, Lapel, passed away Monday, November 6, 2006, at Community Hospital of Anderson following a brief illness.
He was born on December 7, 1927, in Lapel, Indiana to Ernest and Edith (Veach) Gwinn.
Don was a 1946 Lapel High School graduate and he served in the U. S. Army in Panama from 1953 to 1955.
He was a lifetime grain and livestock farmer in the Lapel community. Don was the sixth generation Gwinn to farm the original home-place. He actively enjoyed showing cattle and watching cattle shows.
He served on the Madison County 4-H Association and the Madison County Planning Commission.
He is survived by his wife, Jane (Wilkinson) Gwinn; one daughter, Amy Gwinn of Indianapolis; and his long-time farming partner, Dan Boone of Lapel.
Services will be held at 10:30 AM Thursday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Rev. Evan Lash officiating. Burial will be at the Brookside Cemetery in Lapel.
Friends may call from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday at the Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to the South Madison Community Foundation for college scholarships for local high school students interested in pursuing a career in agriculture.
