Donald R. Davisson

January 27, 1938 — June 12, 2021

Donald Ray Davisson completed his life race on June 12, 2021. It is with sweet-sour emotions that we praise Jesus; Donald is finally at rest, without painful health issues. During the long trek of his struggles, his goal was to bring glory and honor to God, through it all. However, his presence in the lives of the numerous people he blessed, will be deeply missed. Concurrently, his arrival to the presence of Jesus brings great comfort to those who love him. Amidst, the grief, they are cheering his deliverance from a body that could no longer serve him. Thanks be to God who can work all things for HIS glory. Donald is survived by his wife of 63 years, Carolyn, two sons: Terry [Julie] and P. Max, Sister: Lorna Davisson Ashby, 7 grandchildren and 1 great grandson. Donald is preceded in death by his parents, Cleo ‘n Esther Hoover Davisson, infant brother Carl Cleo Davisson, sister Janet Davisson LaVallee and husband, Ivan, sister Arlene Davisson DeLong, and brother-in-law, Rex Ashby. Donald was born to Cleo and Esther Hoover Davisson January 27, 1938, in Shirley, IN. He was raised in the community and graduated Wilkinson High School in 1956. He married Carolyn Sue James, January 25, 1958, at the Shirley Christian Church, with Verl Libby officiating. After high school he worked as a tool & die maker apprentice for Guide Lamp, Division of General Motors before he matriculated into Milligan College [Tennessee] to study for the ministry in 1959. Following the awarding of his M Div. degree from Southern Baptist Seminary [Louisville, KY] he served churches in Kentucky, Indiana and Ohio some forty years. He particularly loved working with young people. He retired from the located ministry in 2003, when he joined the MASTER Provisions team. He was retired from there in 2018; he continued volunteer service when he could manage it, for this mission. Services of praise are scheduled on June 18, 2021, at South Fork Christian Church, Verona, KY: Viewing 5:30; Funeral 7:00 p.m. On June 19, 2021, at the Shirley Christian Church, Shirley, IN: Viewing 12:00 noon; Funeral 1:00 p.m. followed by interment in the Harlan Cemetery.
