Donald L. Sylvester

Donald L. Sylvester, 78, Lapel, passed away Tuesday, November 7, 2006, at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Hospital in Carmel following an extended illness.
He was born on June 27, 1928, to Charles and Lena (Long) Sylvester on the Madison County farm where he lived and had continued to farm until his death.
Don was a Lapel High School and Purdue University graduate and in addition to farming, he retired in 1992 from Delco Remy after 30 years of employment.
He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, the Purdue Ag. Alumni, the Madison County Farm Bureau, and the Madison County Historical Society.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara (Marshall) Sylvester; three sons, Donald Stephen Sylvester of Houston, TX, Charles Kerry Sylvester of Lapel, and Carl Michael Sylvester of Lapel; one sister, Virginia Dean of Wabash, one brother, Joe Sylvester of Bloomington; two granddaughters; three step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Revs. Evan Lash and Russell Irwin officiating. Entombment will be at the Brookside Cemetery in Lapel.
Friends may call from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday at the Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel.
