Donald L. Sidwell

Donald L. Sidwell, 89, died August 27, 2014 at Edgewater Woods after an extended illness.

He was born February 15, 1925, the son of the late Major and Thelma (Hibbard) Sidwell, in New Castle.

Donald retired from Delco-Remy as a Tool & Die Maker after almost 42 years of service. His love of golf was well-known to those who knew him, as evidenced by his membership in the Kilbuck Men’s Club and Hobe Sound Golf Club. He was also a member of Mt. Summit Christian Church, the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the American Legion.

He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Helen (McDaniel) Sidwell of Anderson; son Mark (fiance’ Sara Conner) Sidwell of Indianapolis; step-son Michael (Angie) McDaniel of Snellsville, GA; grandchildren Evan Sidwell, Bryanne Sidwell, Megan McDaniel and Jozie McDaniel; brothers Dallas “Bud” (Sharon) Sidwell and Larry (Judy) Sidwell; and sisters Joanne Land and Judy (James) Savage.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Edward “Bear” Sidwell; sisters, Phyllis June Shively and Norma Toloday; and his first wife Patricia Sidwell.

Services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory with Rev. Mark O’Brien officiating. Burial will follow at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 11:00-1:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Mt. Summit Christian Church.
