Dianna Gayle Simmerman, 69, Lapel, passed away Thursday, May 13, 2010, at her home following an extended illness.
She was born on January 13, 1941, in Woodway, Virginia to Marion and Stella (Johnston) Hall.
She graduated from Lapel High School in 1959.
Dianna had been employed for many years at the former Lapel Drug Store in Lapel; she also worked at one time as church secretary at Ford Street United Methodist Church and in the office at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home and the Lapel Branch Library.
She was a member of the Ford Street United Methodist Church; the Helping Hands and the Ladies Aid at the church
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Robert Simmerman; three children, Cathie L. (husband, Paul) Haley of Indianapolis, Brian Simmerman (fiance, D'Anne Fairbairn) of Lapel, and Chris Simmerman (partner, Wade Montgomery) of Indianapolis; three grandchildren, Amber (husband, Doug) Ward of Lapel, Andrew Barton of Fort Worth, TX, and Julian Simmerman of Lapel; and five great-grandchildren, Dusty, Austin, Joseph, Aaliyah, and Tearsa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and one sister, Frances Hall.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, May 17, 2010, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Rev. Steve Holdzkom officiating. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery, Lapel.
Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm Sunday, May 16, 2010, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel.
