Dennis Ray Isaacs

October 16, 1944 — July 22, 2012

Ray Isaacs, 67, Lapel, died peacefully on Sunday, July 22, 2012, while looking out his bedroom window. Ray, or Rayzo, Crazy Ray, DR, as he was known to many of his friends, was born on October 16, 1944, in Richmond, Indiana to Elzie and Sallie (Williams) Isaacs. He was the second of four sons that all tested their parents' patience and nerves for their entire lives. Ray served in the U. S. Army and drove a tank. After leaving the army, he met his future wife, Linda K. (Possman) Isaacs and they were married in 1971. They had one son, Scott Isaacs and they lived in the Pendleton/Lapel area most of their lives. Ray retired in 1997 from Conrail. All who knew Ray knew how much he loved to talk and tell stories. Everyone who met him got to hear about his latest adventure, purchase, trade, swap, transaction, bargain, barter, haggle or deal. He also liked to gloat over his grandkids whenever he could and loved to watch them in their sports and school activities. He loved his hot rods and Harleys, too. Ray was a friend to everyone, even if he had just met you. He was one of those guys who would give you the last dollar in his pocket to help you out. He touched many people over his years and never regretted doing any of it. He is survived by Linda (Possman) Isaacs; one son, Scott (wife, Tonya) Isaacs of Pendleton; two grandchildren, Sam and Erin Isaacs; three brothers, Danny (wife, Debbie) Isaacs of New Castle, Duane (wife, Cindy) Isaacs of Cambridge City, and Denver Isaacs of Lewisburg, OH; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, July 26, 2012, at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Indianapolis and burial will follow. Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 11:00 am Thursday, July 26, 2012, at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, 9700 Allisonville Road, Indianapolis. Memorial contributions may be made to Indiana Organ Procurement Organization, 3760 Guion Road, Indianapolis, IN 46222 or Ball Memorial Hospice, 2401 W. University Avenue, Muncie, IN 47303.
