Dennis James Muse

Dennis James "Den" Muse, 58, Perkinsville, passed away Sunday, July 14, 2013, at Community Hospital of Anderson following a sudden illness. He was born on February 28, 1955, in Greenfield, Indiana to James and Dorothy (Au) Muse. He graduated from Lapel High School in 1973. Dennis was employed at O-I Brockway in Lapel for 40 years. He was a member of the Lapel Eagles Aerie 4313. He had played basketball, ran track and cross country while in high school. He loved fishing, boating and camping with his grandchildren who meant the world to him. He had a 1956 Ford that he adored and he enjoyed keeping his Indy 500 truck spotless. He was a fan of IU basketball and the Indianapolis Colts. He also loved taking care of the yard. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Deb (Cogill) Muse; two children, Danny Muse of Anderson, and Stacy (husband, Jerry) Barnes of Pendleton; his father, James Muse of Perkinsville; three sisters, Shirley King of Noblesville, Sheila (husband, Rick) Blackford of Perkinsville, and Cindy (husband, Rod) McDole of Lapel; five grandchildren, Phillip Scott Likens, Christopher Michael Muse, Joshua Andrew Barnes, Danielle Christine Muse, and Kimberly Denise Barnes; one great-grandson, Tucker Scott Likens; and two brothers-in-law, Mike (wife, Brenda) Cogill of Elwood, and Frank (wife, Janet) Shetterly of Perkinsville. He was preceded in death by his mother; and two brothers, Duane Muse and David Muse. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, July 18, 2013, at Perkinsville Community Church with Rev. Mark Aleshire officiating. Burial will follow in Perkinsville Cemetery, Anderson. Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm Wednesday, July 17, 2013, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel.
