Deloris Joyce Thayer, 87, formerly of Anderson, passed away Sunday, May 13, 2018 in Fairhope, Alabama, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born December 11, 1930, in Daleville to the late Edwin O. & Oneita L. (Watson) Sibery. Deloris received her master’s degree from Ball State University. She retired as a teacher with over 20 years’ service in Anderson Community Schools, and served as an adjunct professor with the BSU correctional education program. She grew up a member of Central Christian Church and later a member of Unity Church of Anderson. Deloris is survived by her children, Michael (wife, Terri) Thayer of Indianapolis & Denise (husband, Reggie) Quarles of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; grandchildren, Julie (husband, Kelly) Champion & Chad Quarles (wife, Lacey); great grandsons, Jacob , Jared & Jaden Champion & Foster Quarles; brother, Rick (wife, Linda) Sibery; sisters, Myra Thompson & Rosaland Pherson. Sister-in-law Margie Sibery, (wife of Neal Sibery) She was preceded in death by her husband Ira Lewis Thayer and brother Neal Sibery. Honorary Pallbearers: Freddie James & family, Dee Hartmann, Aletha Bruner-Lindzy. A Celebration of Life will be conducted 3:00pm Saturday, May 26, 2018 at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory, with Pastor Justin Fisher officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00pm until time of services. Donations may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation in lieu of flowers.
