Delores K. Smith

February 18, 1954 — February 4, 2019

My sweetie, Delores, lifted her last remaining foot from our physical world and place it alongside the other one she had already planted into God’s Heaven, there by completing a life of joy of the Lord Jesus. She was born here in Anderson, raised by parents, Hazel & Alvin Chapman. Finding herself number six in a family of 9 siblings, she learned the ins and outs of family life. After her degree from Anderson High School, Delores honed her seamstress skills at several local stores, such as Hoyt Wright and Anderson Fur Company. Her other true love was the dry-cleaning business where she cleaned, pressed and sewed the clothes at all of Scotty’s locations. Delores had 2 extremely happy times in her too short life. The birth of her daughter, her little red-haired doll, Monica was the first. 13 years later, the smiling bundle of joy, son, Timothy became the second. Throughout her life Delores loved deeply and mothered wonderfully her children, sharing their joys and their heartbreaks. Her “children” would include any that needed her at times of tribulation. Danielle Brewer Harris and Jeremy O’Brien needed her, and she gave freely. My own 2 sons, Sean and Shea Joel, were welcomed as her own. Grandson Sean Michael enjoyed 2 whole years with her. Many children of others were treated just as her own. Her last few years here found her suffering from a rapid decrease in her health. As her hands became arthritic and eyesight worsened, she could no longer sew. But she loved God and lived through all the issues with her never decreasing love of her family, her children and her many friends. Delores is the love of my life and I neither need nor want any other. She died exactly at the completion of our first meeting some 28 years ago. She filled my life with joy and happiness and my heart aches for her. I will miss her hourly. Yet, I am happy for her. She is now sharing in the Glory of God. What else truly matters. She is survived by her husband, Shea; children, Monica, Tim, Sean (Glenda) and Shea Joel (Linda); brother, Timothy (Beth); sisters, Nancy (B.J.) and Joceline (Dave); grandchildren include Windel, Kyler, Sean Michael, Savannah, Emily, Shea Jacob, Taylor and Kevin; several great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Delores was preceded in passing by parents, Hazel and Alvin Chapman and Jerry and Marjorie Smith; brothers, Butch Chapman, Larry Neff and Greg Chapman; sisters, Mary Stephenson and Diana Wright. A viewing and celebration will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, February 7, 2019 at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory with Rev. Ned Clark officiating followed by entombment at East Maplewood Cemetery. I love you my sweetie, Goodbye. Post online condolences at www.brownbutzdiedring.com
