Debra Kay (Debbie) Hughes, 52
Debra Kay “Debbie” Hughes, 52, slipped our worldly bonds on Wednesday, April 15 following a brief illness. Debbie was born in Anderson on Oct. 11, 1962 and was a resident of Noblesville.
She was a graduate of Pendleton Heights High School and attended Ball State University. Her efficient skills led her to a rewarding work life and years of service with several companies, including Davis Homes and SallieMae. At the time of her passing Debbie was employed by Roche Diagnostics of Indianapolis.
Debbie’s greatest gift was her love of family and willingness to help others without expectations. As the oldest of five children Debbie was the ultimate “big sis” as she remained closely involved with her siblings. Debbie shined during Holidays as her gift of giving always exceeded expectations. She touched many lives with her selfless acts of kindness.
She viewed the arts with great passion, and Debbie was extensively involved with The Belfry Theatre in Noblesville. Her fellow volunteers would look on in amazement as Debbie enthusiastically chased down hard-to-find set pieces and supplies for an upcoming production. Debbie also enjoyed sewing, gardening, and arts and crafts.
Debbie will be deeply missed by a loving extended family. She is survived by her mother Betty Hughes of Anderson; sisters Sherry Argabright of Indianapolis, Jill Fella (husband, Marc) of Fishers, April Williams (husband, Jimmy) of Jacksonville, FL, and brother Rodney Hughes of San Francisco. She is also survived by step-mother Catherine Hughes of Anderson and step-brothers Greg Hallenbeck (wife, Kristen) of Anderson and Marcus Hallenbeck of Indianapolis. Surviving nieces and nephews are Joe Argabright and Jake Argabright of Tipton, Amanda Argabright of Pittsburgh, Pa., Chad Argabright of Faith, S.D., and Courtney and William Fella of Fishers and Alyssa Williams of Salisbury, NC. Also surviving is paternal grandmother Elsie Hughes of Indianapolis, and several aunts and uncles. Debbie is also survived by lifelong dear friends Gus and Monica (Hammond) Pulos. Debbie was preceded in death by her father, Charles Hughes of Anderson.
Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 18, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Anderson with services immediately following. Burial services will follow at Ovid Cemetery.
