Dayton Highers, 77, of Pendleton, passed away on August 16, 2020 at Ascension St. Vincent Anderson with his wife by his side. He was born on February 11, 1943 in Norene, Tennessee to the late Claude and Daisey (Hall) Highers.Dayton retired from Firestone Industrial Products as a Mold Mechanic after 37 years of service. He was a member of the Local 135 URW Steel Association, Fall Creek Gun Club and Redman Lodge in Anderson.He was a kind, generous man who never met a stranger. He always visited and kept tabs on family members, enjoyed chatting with the neighbors, and discussing memories from the past. Dayton also enjoyed cooking, gardening, watching NBA Basketball (Indiana Pacers), and old locomotives and trains.He is survived by his wife, Su Ann Highers of 38 years; son, Jeffrey Highers, daughter in-law, Jennifer A. Highers; daughter, Jennifer Lee (Highers) Woods; step daughter, Theresa Moodie-Banks, step son in-law, Greg Banks; sister, Claudine Massey; grandchildren, Sara Highers, Cedric Highers, Austin Woods, Trevor Woods and several nieces and nephews.Dayton was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Teamon Highers and Paul Highers.Services will be held on Thursday at 2:00 pm at Wilson St. Pierre – Lahm Chapel, 211 E. State St., Pendleton, IN 46064. Burial will be at Grove Lawn Cemetery, Pendleton.Visitation will be from 12:00 to 2:00 pm Thursday at the funeral home.
