David Mark Kimmerling

David Mark "Duke" Kimmerling, 74, Anderson, passed away Thursday, June 9, 2016, at Saint Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital following a long battle with lung cancer.

He was born on October 19, 1941, in Anderson, Indiana to Marcus and Mildred (Hughes) Kimmerling.

He graduated from Madison Heights High School in 1959.

David retired in 1996 from the former Delco Remy division of General Motors in Anderson where he worked in security.

He was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association and a member of the Indiana Gun Club. He loved hunting rabbits with beagles and was an avid deer hunter. He had attended 67 consecutive Anderson Little 500s. David had been a little league coach and loved to watch his grandson play tennis. He was also a friend of Bill.

He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Donna S. (Gregg) Kimmerling; four sons, David (Tiffany) Kimmerling, Mark (Mia) Kimmerling, Stephen (Kathy) Coon, and David Coon all of Anderson; seven grandchildren, Chase, Dakota, Sam, Rachel, Matthew, Jessica, and Austin; eight great-grandchildren Cailey, Lily, Kaden, Eithyn, Kamden, Jazzlyn, Shaelyn, Leeland; and the mother of his sons, Vivian Williams.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Monday, June 13, 2016, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel. Burial will be in the Frankton K. of P. and I. O. O. F. Cemetery at a later date.
