David E. Lloyd

David E. Lloyd, 72, Lapel, passed away Saturday, August 14, 2010, at Riverview Hospital in Noblesville following a year-long illness.
He was born on December 23, 1937, in Anderson, Indiana to Cecil and Pauline (Bectal) Lloyd.
He graduated from Lapel High School and had served in the National Guard.
David retired in 1995 from the Ford Assembly Plant in Indianapolis after 35 years of employment.
He was a member of the Lapel American Legion Post 212 and the Lapel Masonic Lodge No. 625. He had served on the Lapel Town Council for 12 years and served on the Lapel Volunteer Fire Department for many years. David enjoyed the out of doors, hunting, fishing, and spending time at his southern Indiana cabin.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Jean (Rutherford) Lloyd; three sons, John (wife, Rhonda) Lloyd, Ron (wife, Shelley) Lloyd, and David Lee (wife, Jennie) Lloyd all of Lapel; six grandchildren; and one grandson-in-law.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, August 19, 2010, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Rev. Neal Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery, Lapel where the Lapel American Legion will conduct military graveside rites.
Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm Wednesday, August 18, 2010, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel. A Masonic memorial service will be held at 7:30 pm, Wednesday at the funeral home.
