Darrell “Blackie” Gray

Darrell “Blackie” Gray, 76, of Pendleton, passed away Thursday, June 29, 2017 following an extended illness. He was born August 4, 1940 at home in Hancock County and lived in the area his entire life. He was a member of the Lapel High School Class of 1958. On June 27, 1959 he married Lauretta Hallenbeck and together they raised their family. He retired from Guide Lamp in 1992 after 27 years of service. In addition to Lauretta he is survived by his son, Darren (Sharon) Gray of Pendleton; daughter, Lynette Gray of Greenwood; and two grandsons, Tristan and Cameron Gray. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Inez Gray, and his brother, Mike Gray. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Monday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory. A private graveside service will be held at Jones Cemetery following visitation. Memorial contributions may be made to the Pendleton Heights High School Athletic Association.
