Dana "Marilyn" Hexamer, 88, of Pendleton, Indiana, passed away on February 16, 2025. Born on September 14, 1936, in Anderson, Indiana, she was the daughter of James F. McGill and Florence (Cook) McGill. Marilyn married the love of her life, Larry Hexamer, on November 23, 1957, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Anderson.
Marilyn had a successful career as an office supervisor in the insurance industry, primarily at Western Southern Life Insurance Company, where her dedication and hard work left a lasting impact. However, her greatest joy was always her family. Marilyn took pride in hosting family gatherings for Christmas, Easter, and other special occasions, creating a warm, welcoming home filled with love, beautiful decorations, and delicious meals. Together with Larry, Marilyn enjoyed traveling, home improvements, and shopping. While traveling around the world, she collected pottery from local artisans and then proudly displayed her collection in their home.
She is survived by her daughter, Dana (Michael) Lakes; her son, Jay (Marta) Hexamer; and her grandchildren, Jennifer (Andy) Meyer, Benjamin Hexamer, and Eleanor Hexamer; Great-grandchildren, Jacob Meyer and Isaiah Meyer; Grandchild of the heart, Carolyn Shryock; Special niece and nephew, Kelly (Rob) Fraser and Shawn Williams; Brothers-in-law, Tom Williams and Tim (Denise) Hexamer; Marilyn's family was the center of her world, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Husband, Larry Hexamer; Sisters, Janet Killian and Nomie Williams; Great-niece, Amanda Osborne, and her beloved granddaughter, Rachel Lakes.
Visitation for family and friends will take place on Saturday, February 22, 2025 from 9:30am - 11:00am at Bozell Funeral Homes, Brown-Butz-Diedring Chapel, 515 East 53rd Street, Anderson, Indiana 46013. A brief time of sharing will take place following visitation at 11:00am at the funeral home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday starting at 12:00pm at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 302 East 11th Street, Anderson, Indiana 46013. Burial will conclude with services at Huntsville Cemetery in Pendleton. The family would like to invite all for lunch following the graveside service for more fellowship at a location to be determined.
