Mr. Dale Edward Schmaltz

Dale Edward Schmaltz, 76, passed away Thursday, July 1, 2021, in Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, with his loving wife & pastor by his side. He was born May 5, 1945, in Anderson to the late, Horace & Sylvia (Willman) Schmaltz. He graduated from Highland High School in 1964. Dale was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and member of the Pendleton American Legion #117. He retired from GM/Delphi after 40 years, where he had been a supervisor in Plant 20. Dale was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #154 Anderson, the Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis, the Madison County Shrine Club, and the Mt. Moriah Masonic Lodge #77 F. & A.M., where he served as Worshipful Master in 1999. Dale enjoyed woodworking, making jelly, and baking. He was especially known for his fruit pies, Easter Bunny cakes, and fudge. He was a member of Redeemer Baptist Church. He loved his church family and enjoyed serving God by helping in the church and working in the Men’s Group as they did odd jobs for members needing help. Dale had a dynamic personality and will be missed by all. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Kathy (Ferguson) Schmaltz; children, Angela (husband, Iyves) Legoff, Dale Schmaltz, Jr., Michael (wife, Katrina) Schmaltz, & Rudy Schmaltz; sisters, Shirley Callahan, Margie (husband, Don) Houser, & Vickie (husband, Mike) Marsh; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Joyce Ann Schmaltz & Judy Jones; and brother-in-law, Max Callahan. Services will be at 1:00 pm Thursday, July 88at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory, with Pastor Brad Storm officiating. Burial will be at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the time of services at the funeral home.
