Connie J. King

Connie J. King, 57, Lapel, went home to be with her Lord on Friday, October 30, 2015, at Saint Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born on August 27, 1958, in Anderson and graduated from Madison Heights High School in 1976. Connie was director and teacher at Trinity United Methodist Church Pre-school for 25 years and also served as Director of Christian Education for the church. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Lapel and the Rachel Circle. Connie was an avid quilter and enjoyed her part-time job at the former Ruth's Legacy in Pendleton. She adored her grandchildren and was a full-time Mimi after retiring from the church. She was very involved in her community having served on the Lapel Park Board and the Lapel Band Boosters. Recently, Connie served in the Anderson Southdale Church of the Nazarene community. She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Tyran D. King; two children, Don (wife, Chassidy) King of Fishers and Stephanie (husband, Jesse) George of Noblesville; three granddaughters, Audrey Dunkerson, Elaina, and Aliza King; her parents, Don and Virginia Gwaltney of Anderson; three brothers, Steve (wife, Vicky) Owens of Texas, Scott (wife, Sibylle) Owens of California, and Kirk (wife, Cindy) Owens of Lapel. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, November 4, 2015, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Pastors Dawn Cuthbert and Brad Buhro officiating. Burial will follow in East Maplewood Cemetery, Anderson. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm Tuesday, November 3, 2015, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel.
