Clifford R. Weston, 96, Anderson, passed away July 2, 2014 at St Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital after a sudden illness.
He was born June 17, 1918, the son of Lonnie and Ida (Halcomb) Weston in Burnside, KY. The family moved to Anderson where Clifford was a member of the Anderson High School Class of 1937.
On November 9, 1940, Clifford married Nellie Hardy. He then served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII.
Upon his return home, he worked for a period of time as a Police Officer for the City of Anderson, until settling into a career as a plumber. An avid bowler, Clifford was a member of the SPBA. He was also a championship fast-pitch softball pitcher in Indiana and Florida.
Survivors include his daughter, Vicki (husband, Sonny) Woods of Anderson; grandchildren, Beth (husband, Tom) Raison of Anderson, Todd (wife, Tracey) Fisher of Alexandria, Debbie (husband, Ben) Evans of Pendleton and Leah (husband, Joey) Finan of Yorktown; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Juanita Alexander of Pendleton and Joan Weston of Anderson; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Nellie; three sisters, Geneva Heiden, Genyle Webb and Mary Graham; and his brother, Lonnie Weston.
A memorial graveside service will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, at East Maplewood cemetery with Mr. Todd Fisher officiating. Military honors conducted by the VFW Post #266.
