Clifford J. Hiatt

Clifford "Jerry" Hiatt, 76, Lapel, passed away Sunday, October 28, 2012, at his home following an extended illness. He was born on September 16, 1936, in Sheridan, Indiana to Clifford and Ruby (Harbaugh) Hiatt. Jerry retired in 1994 from Ford Motor Company in Indianapolis as an inspector after 37 years of employment. He was a member of the Deming Masonic Lodge. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Phyllis (Manis) Hiatt; two children, Kim (husband, Dan) Myers of Independence, MO and Kent Hiatt of Lapel; seven grandchildren, Kylie (husband, Ryan) Brooks, Kyle (wife, Jennifer) Jones, James (wife, Jamie) Jones, Jessica Hiatt, Jeremiah (wife, Hayley) Jones, Kurt (wife, Carrie) Jones, and Mason Hiatt; ten great-grandchildren; two brothers, Merrill (wife, Marty) Hiatt and John (wife, Barbara) Hiatt; and three sisters, Sara Malan, Mary (husband, Scott) Hiatt, and Susan (husband, Andy) Neihaus. He was preceded in death by his parents; one infant son, Ronald; and one brother, Russell Hiatt; and two great-granddaughters. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon Saturday, November 3, 2012, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Mr. Richard Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery, Lapel. Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon Saturday, November 3, 2012, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel.
