Clemeth Kuhl

Clemeth E. Kuhl, 92, of Anderson, passed away August 30, 2014 at Edgewater Woods in Anderson.

He was born June 3, 1922, in Detroit, MI. the first of six children to the late Alvin and Mary Kuhl.

Clem was a sergeant in the U.S. Army Finance during World War II and a 1949 graduate of Walsh Institute (now Walsh College in Troy, Michigan).

His first employer was Detroit Bank and Trust Co. which he left after two years to join General Motors Corporation for a career involving various financial management assignments at three Divisions of General Motors over a period of 38 years. He retired in 1983 from Delco Remy Division where he was their Divisional Auditor.

Clem was a faithful member of St. Mary Church since 1962 and a past Chairman of their Finance Committee. He was a member and past Treasurer of Anderson Country Club and active in civic affairs. He was a member of the Kiwanis Service Club, a long time past Treasurer of the Wilson Boys Club Board of Directors, a counselor and past Chairman of Service Corps of Retired Executives (SCORE) and Treasurer of Anderson School Building Corporation. When his children were young he was a Cub Master and Assistant Scout Master and took an active part in the supervision of AAU swim meets in which his children participated.

Clem is survived by six children and three step children, Gerald Kuhl (wife, Colette) of Mt. Clemens, MI; Laurence Kuhl (wife, Laura) of Lake Bluff, IL; Donald Kuhl (wife, Barbara) of Anderson, IN; Christine (Kuhl) English (husband, David) of Bremen, IN; Michael Kuhl (wife, Patricia) of Indianapolis, IN; Thomas Kuhl of Terre Haute, IN; Vicki (King) Jarrett Collins (husband, Edgar) of Franklin, OH; Steven King of Franklin, OH; and Leigh Ann (King) Clendenen Hayes (husband, James) of Anderson, IN; also surviving are many grandchildren and great grandchildren and three sisters, Eilene Kuhl of Livonia, MI; Dolores Wilson of Oxford, MI; and Jacqueline Ciszewski of Walled Lake, MI; and many nieces and nephews.

Clem was preceded in death by the mother of their six children, Dolores May (Flemming) Kuhl in 1972 and in 2011 by his wife, Shirley (Peters) King Kuhl who he married in 1977; two brothers, Donald Kuhl in 1947 and Floyd Kuhl in 1989; two brothers-in-law, Frank Wilson and Richard Ciszewski, and sister-in-law, Bettie (Stoba) Kuhl in 1996.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary Church with Monsignor Robert Sell officiating. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery where military graveside rites will be conducted by V.F.W. Post 266 Honor Guard.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory.
