Clara M. "Peg" Roudebush, died Saturday, January 27, 2007, at age 87, at Saint John's Health System in Anderson. She was a resident of rural Lapel, born on December 20, 1919, in Anderson to Canby A. and Worthie (Bratton) Rigsby.
Clara attended Anderson and Hagerstown schools and graduated in 1938 from Elwood High School. She graduated from Felt-Tarrant Business School in South Bend and was employed at Bendix Products for a short time. She returned to Anderson for employment at G. M. Guide Division for seven years. She married Lester A. Roudebush in 1947. Both continued employment with G. M. at Allison Division in Indianapolis and she retired after 42 years of service. For their retirement years, they returned to Madison County at rural Lapel. Clara was an accountant in her working years.
She enjoyed serving others and was a former Pink Lady at Community Hospital. She enjoyed gardening, especially roses, and socializing with her family and friends. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and the Lions Club of Lapel, the Madison County Shrine Ladies, and the Order of Eastern Star at Elwood.
Survivors include two brothers, Canby Rigsby, Jr. of Frankton, and Donald Rigsby of Elsmere, KY; six nieces; one nephew; several grandnieces and grandnephews; and special friends, Greg, Susan, and Allyson Farren of Anderson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 46 years, Lester A. Roudebush, who died November 10, 1993; and a brother, Harold G. Rigsby.
Services will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Rev. Evan Lash officiating. Burial will be at the East Maplewood Cemetery in Anderson.
Friends may call from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM Tuesday at the Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to the South Madison Community Foundation or the Shrine Children's Hospital.
