Charles T. Wilson, 71, of Pendleton, passed away Thursday, April 14, 2016 at his residence after a brief illness.
He was born April 30, 1944 in Anderson to the late Sam and Ruth (Baldwin) Wilson and graduated from Anderson High School Class of 1963. He lived in Madison County all of his life and retired from Guide Lamp in 2003 after 40 years of service.
Charles was a member of Ovid Masonic Lodge 164, American Legion, Eagles, NRA, NCOWS and SASS. He was also a member of the notorious Pendleton “Liars Club” meeting daily for coffee and breakfast. “Crazy Charlie” was known for his generosity giving “gold coins” to the many children he met over the years. As alias Fall Creek Sam he participated in the old west train robbery in Knightstown.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly (Dempsey) Wilson (The War Department) of Pendleton; three daughters, Ruth (Pete) VanBaalen of Greenfield, Niki (Jim) Estes of Pendleton and Veronika (Kyle) Hunter-Hall of Highlands Ranch, CO; grandchildren, J.P. Estes, Eric VanBaalen, Jackson Estes, Joe Estes, Ty Hall, Lia Hall and Blake Hall; two sisters, Phyllis Wilson of Anderson and Mary Ducas of Tucson, AZ; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Ramona Warrum and Kathy Wilson; granddaughter, Ari Hall and wife, Linda.
Services will be 1:00 p.m. Monday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory with Rev. Steve Lay officiating. Burial will be in East Maplewood Cemetery.
Visitation will be 2-5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service.
