Charles Steven "Charlie" Dopirak, III, 65, Lapel, passed away Thursday, December 20, 2012, at his home following an extended illness. He was born on December 27, 1946, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Charles and Mildred (Enrico) Dopirak. He received an Associate's Degree in psychology from Vincennes University. Charlie retired from the U. S. Army as a sargent in 1988 after 23 years of service in Viet Nam, Germany, and Korea. He served as director of The Travel Camp at Fort Story, Virginia. Charlie also retired from the Pendleton Reformatory as a recreation leader in 2010 after 20 years of employment. He was a member of the Disabled Veterans and enjoyed camping and hunting. He also enjoyed sponsoring Marigold Learning Academy, his daughters' school for autism in Rockwall, Texas. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Sharon Kay (Nikirk) Wilson-Dopirak ; three daughters, Nicole Dopirak of Philadelphia, PA, Tracie Wilson and Karri Shojaei-Wilson both of Rockwall, TX; six grandchildren, Anna-Maghen Wilson, Jon Reid, Darius Shojaei, Kayla and Daelan Scott, and Amber McDaniel; one great-granddaughter, Emilee Baker; one sister, Ann Marie Gallagher of Ocean City, NJ; and one brother, William Steven Dopirak of St. Louis, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one daughter, Wendi Wilson. A Celebration of Life service will be held in Atlantic City, NJ at a later date and burial will follow in Arlington National Cemetery.
