Charles Jacob Renner

Charles Jacob "Jake" Renner, 100, Fishersburg, passed away Thursday, October 3, 2013, at The Lodge at Harbour Manor Care Center in Noblesville. He was born on June 11, 1913, in Hamilton County, Indiana to Earl and Goldie (Reddick) Renner. Jake retired from the former Guide Lamp division of General Motors in Anderson after 37 years of employment. He was a member of the Fishersburg Wesleyan Church and he had a band, Jake Renner and the Ramblers who played for square dances. He is survived by two children, Marlene Lackey and Dennis (wife, Jill) Renner both of Anderson; three grandchildren, Debbie Lackey of Noblesville, Jeff Lackey of Pearl, MS, and Britt Truner of Anderson; four great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Rex Renner of Noblesville. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 78 years, Carolyn (Cottingham) Renner, a sister, Lavon Elkins; and a brother, Macel Renner. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Monday, October 7, 2013, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Rev. Raymond Hood officiating. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery, Lapel. Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm Sunday, October 6, 2013, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Fishersburg Wesleyan Church, 9825 West Walnut Street, Lapel, Indiana 46051.
