Charles F. “Bud” Welsh, 88, of Anderson passed away Friday June 23, 2017, at Miller’s Merry Manor in Chesterfield after a year-long battle with cancer. He was born June 21, 1929, to the late Joseph and Hazel (Potts) Welsh, Sr. Bud was employed as a grower at Wolfe’s Floral and Garden in Lapel for 27 years. During that time, he won several awards at the Indiana State Fair for his flowers. He also developed a white Fuji Chrysanthemum that was recognized and purchased by the Burpee Seen Company. Upon closure of Wolfe’s business, he joined his son, David’s landscaping business where he helped to expand it to become Welsh Landscaping and Greenhouse. He was active in that endeavor until just two years prior to his death. He is survived by his children, Debbie (George) Lambesis, and David (Betsy) Welsh; three step children, Neal (Denise) Rector, Jack Rector and Angela Rector Catton; granddaughters, Angela Cast, Katie (Tom) Finley, Elizabeth “Libby” (Brandy) Welsh-Ward and five great grandchildren. Bud was preceded in death by his wife of 37 years, Donna Kleyla Welsh; a brother, Joseph Welsh, Jr. and his infant daughter, Janice. Arrangements are entrusted to Brown-Butz-Diedring-Funeral Service & Crematory. A private graveside service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Anderson Center for the Arts.
