Charles (Sonny) Schott, 73, passed away January 4, 2022 at home surrounded by his family.Sonny was adopted by their loving parents, Katherine and George Schott of Alexandria, Indiana where he and his brother (Jr.) had a wonderful childhood.He attended St. Mary’s Catholic High School and Alexandria Monroe High School graduating in 1966.After High School Sonny enlisted in the Indiana National Guard, Ft. Wayne, Indiana Army D Company (Ranger) Airborne 151st Infantry. He was sent to Vietnam for two years. Sonny was employed at General Motors where he retired after 40 years.He lived in Madison County all of his life- calling Alexandria, Markleville and Pendleton home over the years.During his younger years he loved to fish, hunt and travel with his family. You could always find Sonny at the ballpark with his children, coaching and watching baseball and softball games. Sports was his Number One Past Time including High School and College Sports. NASCAR was also a favorite.Sonny is Survived by his wife, Brenda (of 26 years); children, Ben Schott (wife, Carrie), Chris Schott, Misty McCord (husband, Cliff), Cathy Welch (husband, James), Bobby Smith, Melissa Baum (husband, Doug) and Julie McCord (husband, Brad); grandchildren, Trey Merryman, Hyder Baldwin (husband, Gary), Carter Schott, Samantha Schott, Riley Schott, Payton Baum, Brennan McCord, Gatlin Schott, Kessler Welch and Jamecey Welch; and his fur baby and constant companion, Peanut.Sonny was preceded in death by his parents, Katherine and George Schott, brother, George (Jr.) Schott and sister, Susie Bayne.Services entrusted to Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory, Lahm Chapel, Pendleton.Because of Covid protocols a graveside service officiated by Pastor Rick Schoeff with military honors will be conducted at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Alexandria, Indiana at 11 a.m, Saturday, January 15, 2022.
