Charles "Ed" Edward Wells

Charles "Ed" Edward Wells, 77, of Anderson, passed away on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at his home following an extended illness.

He was born on September 8, 1947, in St. Charles, Virginia to William "Tic" and Bernett E. (Ely) Wells. He retired after many years of driving truck for a fertilizer warehouse.

Ed loved all kinds of music, especially Lynard Skynard. He played guitar and was in a band in his younger years. He was sometimes known as "Big Ed". Family was a big part of his life. He loved his grandchildren dearly. He believed in God and had a strong faith. He knew where he was going.

Ed is survived by a daughter, Carla (Basil Stanley) Gibbs; a son, James Wells; three grandchildren, Shayla Gibbs, Patrick (wife, Angie) Gibbs, Mercedes Stanley; great-grandchildren, Sophya, Karmyn, Braiden, Grayclynn, Bryson, Little Patrick "Tato" and Rae'lynn; two brothers, James "Pete" (wife, Sylvia) Wells, John (wife, Carol) Wells; and a sister, Paula (husband, Richard "Buzz") Camp; a brother-in-law, JJ McPherson; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Sharla and Raven.

He was preceded in death by his wife whom he married on June 23, 1974, Vicki Jean (Gerber) Wells; his parents; a sister, Patricia McPherson; and a brother, Garland Wells.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at Bozell Funeral Homes, Lapel Chapel, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel, Indiana 46051. Burial will follow at Brookside Cemetery in Lapel.

Visitation will be from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at the funeral home.

Additionally following the burial at Brookside there will be gathering and an after funeral dinner from 3:00 P.M. to 7:00 PM on Saturday, April 19, 2025 at The Station, 1020 N. Main St., Lapel, IN 46051.

Memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home to assist with Ed's expenses.
