Charles “Charlie” J. Hampton,88, passed away March 20, 2018, at Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield. He was born November 17, 1929, in Conran, MO, the son of John and Audra (Froman) Hampton. He served in the 140th Infantry of the US Army and the National Guard in Missouri. On September 8, 1951 he married Ellen R. Amick and together they raised their family. He retired from the Pendleton Reformatory after twenty years of service, but his primary calling was as a farmer, which he did his entire life.In addition to Ellen, Charlie is survived by his son, Michael G. Hampton of Anderson; grandson, Mark A. Hampton of Pendleton; great-grandchildren, Zachary and Logan Hampton; brother, Billy Joe Hampton of Missouri; and sisters, Margie Vent and Margaret Poncsak of Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Lester, Delmar, Earnest, Edward and Leon Hampton; and brothers-in-law, Pete Poncsak and Donnie Vent.As per his wishes there will be no services or visitation.
