Carroll E. Burke, 93, of Pendleton passed away June 12, 2019.He was born April 22, 1926 in Lapel, Indiana, the son of Emory and Flo Marie (Castor) Burke. A graduate of Lapel High School, Carroll served in the 106th Infantry Division of the United States Army during World War II in the European African Theatre. He was a recipient of the Bronze Star Medal, Three Campaign Stars and Combat Infantry Badge as well as a Purple Heart.He resided in Pendleton since 1947 and retired as a Tool and Die Maker from Delco Remy Division of General Motors, Anderson after 46 years and 2 months of service. Carroll was a member of the Pendleton First United Methodist Church; a 50 plus years member of Madison Masonic Lodge #44 F. & A.M., Pendleton; member of Indianapolis Valley of the Scottish Rite; Murat Shrine Temple, Indianapolis; Madison County Shrine Club of Anderson; Past Commander of American Legion Post #117, Pendleton; AMVETS Post #26, Pendleton; Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #266; U.A.W. Union; and the National Rifle Association. He loved to go fishing and hunting with his son and grandsons. He also loved watching the Colts, Cowboys, and Bobby Knight with Eric. Survivors include, daughter, Linda (Don Webb) Castor of Pendleton, son, Gary (Carla) Burke of Anderson; five grandchildren, Devin Castor of Shirley, Ryan (Julie) Castor of Indianapolis, Jason (Robin) Castor of Marion, Iowa, Melissa (Doug) Baum of Irvine, California, and Julie (Brad) McCord of Noblesville; seven great grandchildren, Hannah Marie and Eric Dean Castor, twins Katelyn Michelle and Lauren Elizabeth, Andrew Jacob Castor, Payton Lauren Baum and Brennan Allan McCord; sister-in-law, Becky Burke; two nieces, Lana Kaye (Greg) Beaudoin and Pamela (Keith) Benzenbauer. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Barbara (Weatherford) Burke; five brothers, Vonzel Burke, Kenneth Burke, Emory “Jay” Burke, Jerry Burke and Lester Burke; and son-in-law, Steve Castor. Services will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, June 17, 2019 at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory, Lahm Chapel, 211 E. State St., Pendleton, Indiana 46064 beginning with Masonic Memorial rites followed by Pastor Claude Creel officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Grove Lawn Cemetery, Pendleton.Visitation from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday, June 17, 2019 at Lahm Chapel, Pendleton.Memorial contributions may be made to the Madison County Shrine Club Crippled Children Fund, 2419 White Street Anderson, Indiana 46012; Huntsville Good Shepherd Community Church, P.O. Box 45, Pendleton, Indiana; or Pendleton Emergency Ambulance, P.O. Box 165, Pendleton, Indiana 46064.
