Carol E. Strough, 85, of Anderson passed away on September 28, 2024 at Sugar Fork Crossing. Carol was born on March 22, 1939 in Anderson, IN to the late Eric and Esther (Miles) Bergdahl. She attended and graduated from Anderson High School in 1958 and shortly after, began working for General Motors until her retirement in 2001. Carol married the love of her life, Robert Strough, on December 28, 1973 and the two were married for 50 years. She found her spiritual home at Hope Church and was a faithful member for many years. She also volunteered at New Horizons United Methodist Church as a secretarial assistant and with the children’s daycare ministry. Carol volunteered with the American Red Cross as a CPR instructor for many years. She also served as the Court Appointed Special Advocate/Guardian Ad Litem in Madison County, IN. Carol loved to shop and travel with her camper. She had a fierce love of music and was a talented organist. Carol was extremely devoted to her family, especially her son, Scott who was severely mentally disabled.
Carol will be dearly missed by her husband, Robert; daughters, Barbara (Robert) VanderWagen, Kimberly (Greg) Leigh, and Beverly (Robert) Burns; 7 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; brother, Richard "Skip" Bergdahl; and niece, Becky (John) Stuckey.
She was preceded in death by her parents and son, Scott Miller.
The visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at Bozell Funeral Homes-Brown-Butz-Diedring Chapel, 515 E. 53rd St., Anderson, IN 46013. There will be a short visitation from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at Hope Church, 3001 Mounds Road, Anderson, IN 46016. The funeral ceremony will be at 1 PM at the church. Entombment will follow at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.
